Marketing - An explanation

Marketing is, in the most simple explanation "The process or method of creating, communicating and delivering goods or services of value to clients." Marketing is the goods or services general selling related activities.

To generate a plan or strategy that will hold in tangent, sales skills, communication and any present or future business or product goals or developments. To create strong and long standing client relationships and to magnify and create goods or product value for clients, partners or the business themselves.

Marketing is used to research and identify any demographic, segmentation and client base, to implement client satisfaction and finally, to maintain business relationships and keep the client. Marketing moves beyond the thought process of businesses production strategy and in to the perception of the products market, it's clients and their perceived demands and expectations for any goods or service. To maintain or raise this margin and to enhance and maximise profitability of the business.

The term marketing concept holds that achieving organisational goals depends on knowing the needs and wants of target markets and delivering the desired outcome. Marketing will propose that in order for a business, good or service to satisfy its objectives, a business should anticipate the needs and wants of consumers and to maintain why the business can satisfy more effectively than their direct competitors.

An element of marketing

Marketing needs to be strategised and analysed in such a way that the business can set realistic goals, margins and profit growth that will not jeopardise the business' internal demands. That is, a higher than expected growth spurt could be just as damaging, if not more than a sudden decline in sales. The balance in marketing and perceived future earnings over time is fragile.

Famous marketing quotes

If you don't believe in your product, or if you're not consistent and regular in the way you promote it, the odds of succeeding go way down. The primary function of the marketing plan is to ensure that you have the resources and the wherewithal to do what it takes to make your product work."

You now have to decide what 'image' you want for your brand. Image means personality. Products, like people, have personalities, and they can make or break them in the market place.
David Ogilvy
British advertising executive (1911–1999)
